7D6N Central Europe: Czech Republic, Germany, Poland - SIC Every Tuesday from Prague
Explore Europe’s gems—Prague, Berlin, Warsaw, and more! A 7-day journey through history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes.
Itinerary
Upon gathering at Prague Central Station (Praha Hlavní Nádraží) - 8.30 AM, we will proceed directly to the historic spa city of Karlovy Vary. Renowned for its abundant hot springs, the city boasts 13 main springs and approximately 300 smaller springs. Karlovy Vary has served as the filming location for movies such as Casino Royale (007) and Last Holiday, particularly at the opulent Grandhotel Pupp, the most luxurious high-class hotel in Eastern Europe. After sightseeing and exploring the charming streets lined with Baroque and Art Nouveau architecture, we will cross the border into Germany to visit the historic city of Dresden. Often referred to as the "Florence on the Elbe," Dresden is celebrated as one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. Upon arrival, we will visit iconic landmarks such as the Dresden Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady), an impressive Lutheran church restored to its former glory; the Procession of Princes, a magnificent mural depicting Saxony’s ruling dynasty; the Dresden Castle (exterior), a historical residence of Saxon rulers; and Brühl's Terrace, offering stunning views over the Elbe River.
Departing in the morning, we travel to Berlin, Germany’s vibrant capital, known for its rich history and eclectic architectural styles shaped by various regimes. Upon arrival, embark on a sightseeing tour covering key historical landmarks that define Berlin’s cultural heritage. Highlights include Berlin TV Tower (€27.50, optional), the tallest structure in Germany; the remnants of the Berlin Wall, a powerful symbol of division and reunification; Checkpoint Charlie, the famous border crossing during the Cold War; Straße des 17. Juni (June 17th Street), a major avenue filled with historical significance; the Victory Column, commemorating Prussian victories; the Reichstag (New Parliament Building), a blend of historical and modern architectural styles; and the iconic Brandenburg Gate, a symbol of unity and strength. Optionally, a Berlin Boat Cruise (€25, optional) may be arranged for a scenic river cruise through the heart of the city.
This morning, travelers may explore Potsdam at their leisure or opt for a visit to Sanssouci Palace (€35, optional), the summer retreat of Prussian King Frederick II. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the palace, often dubbed the "Prussian Versailles," boasts stunning gardens and Rococo-style architecture. This optional tour also includes a visit to Bridge of Spies and transfers. In the afternoon, we cross into Poland and travel to Poznań, one of the country’s oldest cities. En route, we will pass the world’s tallest Christ statue (Pomnik Chrystusa Króla) (€10, group activity, must join) for a brief group activity. Poznań holds historical significance as the first capital of a unified Poland and the birthplace of Polish Christianity in 966. The city's Old Town enchants visitors with its colorful facades, charming squares, and a mix of historical and modern attractions.
Poland, despite being an EU and Schengen member, retains its own currency, the Polish Zloty (PLN). In Warsaw, the capital, modern skyscrapers stand alongside historic landmarks, showcasing the city’s remarkable post-war reconstruction. Our tour includes the Old Town, meticulously restored after World War II, featuring the Royal Castle, the picturesque Market Square, and the famous Mermaid Statue, the city’s emblem. A walk through the Barbican and ancient city walls leads to New Town, home to Marie Curie’s House, commemorating the two-time Nobel Prize laureate. Continuing past the Presidential Palace, we visit Holy Cross Church, which houses the heart of composer Frédéric Chopin, and admire the Nicolaus Copernicus Statue near the University of Warsaw. The tour concludes at the Palace of Culture and Science (€6, optional), a Soviet-era architectural landmark. Warsaw City Entrance Tax + Overnight City Tax (€10, compulsory) must be paid with the tour fee.
Departing Warsaw, we travel to the Wieliczka Salt Mine (€50, optional, includes guided tour), a UNESCO World Heritage Site famed for its intricate salt carvings, underground chapels, and vast tunnels. This breathtaking "Palace of Salt Art" reaches a depth of 327 meters and spans over 287 kilometers. Following this visit, we continue to Kraków, Poland’s former capital for 500 years and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our exploration of Kraków’s Old Town includes the majestic St. Mary's Basilica, the lively Market Square, the historic Cloth Hall, the towering Town Hall Tower, and St. Adalbert's Church. Optionally, guests may enjoy a Polish 3-course dinner (€35, optional).
We begin the day with a visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum (€50, optional, includes guided tour and skip-the-line access), starting with an exterior view of Auschwitz II-Birkenau, the largest extermination camp of World War II. Visitors may opt for a guided tour inside Auschwitz I, passing through the infamous "Arbeit Macht Frei" gate. After reflecting on this solemn history, we proceed to Brno, the Czech Republic’s second-largest city. Here, in Freedom Square, marvel at the Plague Column and fountain. Nearby, the Capuchin Crypt (€5, optional), located close to the bustling Cabbage Market, provides a unique cultural experience.
Our journey continues to Český Krumlov, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its fairy-tale charm. Founded in the 13th century, its cobblestone streets and iconic castle tower offer a glimpse into medieval times. The town is home to the Czech Republic’s second-largest castle, which includes 40 palaces and towers. From the castle’s bridge gallery, enjoy a panoramic view of the Old Town, a picture-perfect sea of red rooftops. If time permits, we may visit Hluboká Castle (€25, optional, includes transfer), one of the Czech Republic’s most picturesque castles. Finally, we return to Prague, arriving by dusk, where our tour concludes.
