Itinerary
Upon arrival in Xian, you will be transferred to your hotel. Check-in and take time to relax and recover from your journey. Enjoy a restful night to prepare for the upcoming adventures.
After a delicious breakfast, transfer to the airport for a flight to Urumqi, the capital of the Xinjiang region. Upon arrival, visit the Grand Bazaar, a bustling market where you can shop for unique local handicrafts, textiles, and spices. Later, explore the Xinjiang Museum, which showcases the rich cultural heritage and history of the region. Afterward, enjoy a comfortable stay and rest.
Begin the day with a scenic drive to Turpan. Your first stop will be the famous Heavenly Lake, a beautiful alpine lake surrounded by mountains. Take an electric car ride around the area and enjoy a cruise on the lake. Then, visit the Karez Well, an ancient underground irrigation system that has sustained life in this arid region for centuries. After the day's explorations, enjoy your stay and relax.
Today, you’ll discover some of Turpan's most iconic attractions. Start with the famous Flaming Hill, known for its red, fiery appearance, particularly under the afternoon sun. Then, visit SuGong Pagoda, a historic and visually striking structure. Explore the Jiaohe Ruins, an ancient city that was once a key point along the Silk Road, where you'll take a battery car to help navigate the ruins. Finally, visit the Tuyuk Valley, a serene and picturesque area, before returning to your hotel for the night.
After breakfast, take a bullet train ride to Liuyuan (excluding 2nd class seats), a small town on the edge of the Gobi Desert. Then, continue your journey to Dunhuang. In the evening, visit the Dunhuang Mosque, one of the city's important religious sites. You will also have time to enjoy the vibrant night market, where you can sample local snacks and shop for souvenirs.
Today, experience the Singing Sand Dunes, an impressive natural phenomenon where the sand "sings" as the wind blows across it. Enjoy a camel ride through the dunes for a truly unique experience. Later, visit Crescent Moon Lake, a stunning oasis nestled between the dunes. It's a peaceful and scenic spot to relax and enjoy the desert landscape. After a fulfilling day, return to your accommodation and rest.
Travel to Jiayuguan, where you’ll explore the iconic JiaYuGuan Pass, a key fortification along the Great Wall of China. The electric car ride will take you to the various sections of this impressive structure, where you can learn about the history of this ancient military post. Next, visit the JiuQuan Mosque, an important Islamic site. Spend the evening in Jiuquan and relax.
After breakfast, head to Zhangye and visit the breathtaking Rainbow Mountain, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its colorful, layered hills. The electric car ride will take you to the best viewing points for a spectacular view of the vibrant landscape. Afterward, explore the ZhangYe Mosque, an important religious site in the region. Return to your accommodation for the evening.
Today, you will visit Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu Province. Start with the HuangHe Mother Statues, a tribute to the Yellow River, followed by a visit to the Waterwheel Garden, a peaceful park with traditional waterwheels. Explore the HuangHe Bridge, which spans the Yellow River, and take in the picturesque views. Visit the NanGuan Mosque, an important cultural landmark. Finally, immerse yourself in the flavors of Lanzhou by strolling through NanGuan National Flavor Street, where you can enjoy local delicacies.
After breakfast, take a bullet train to Xian. Once in the city, visit the Great Mosque, a stunning example of Islamic architecture in China. Then, stroll through Muslim Street, a lively area where you can sample delicious halal food and shop for local handicrafts.
Begin the day with a visit to the world-famous Terracotta Army at the Qin Shi Huang Warriors site, where you’ll take an electric car ride to explore the excavation sites. Next, visit the DongXin Street Mosque, another significant religious site in the city. After a delightful dinner, transfer to the airport for your flight home.
Enjoy a final breakfast in Xian before catching your flight back to Kuala Lumpur, marking the end of your 12-day adventure along the Silk Road.
