Itinerary
Upon your arrival at Riyadh, our representative will meet you at the airport holding a sign with your name. You’ll then be transferred to your hotel for some rest. Riyadh, the birthplace of modern Saudi Arabia, is a city where old-world charm seamlessly blends with 21st-century development. The Riyadh Province, also known as Al-Wosta, is home to the country's capital, a bustling metropolis renowned for its financial and business center and its growing cultural scene. As you settle in, you’ll be surrounded by a history-rich environment filled with forts, palaces, museums, and vibrant souks. After your check-in at the Gloria Inn (or a similar hotel), you’ll have the rest of the day to relax and unwind.
The day begins with a visit to Diriyah, located to the northwest of Riyadh. This site was once the original capital of the first Saudi state and is a must-see for history lovers. Diriyah's Al Turaif quarter, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2010, offers a glimpse into the country's rich heritage with its beautifully restored mud-brick buildings. Following this, we’ll take you to the National Museum, where you can dive into Saudi Arabia’s history, with artifacts spanning different periods displayed at the King Abdulaziz Historical Center. This museum offers an immersive experience to understand the deep cultural and historical significance of the kingdom.
Next, we’ll head to Al Masmak Fortress, a stronghold built in 1865 that holds immense historical significance. The fortress was famously stormed in 1902 by Ibn Saud, a key moment in the kingdom's reunification, and remains an iconic symbol of Saudi Arabia's history. Inside, you’ll discover exhibits showcasing maps, photographs, and other artifacts dating from the early 20th century. Just a short walk away is Souq Al-Zal, one of Riyadh's oldest markets, where you can shop for traditional dresses, antiques, Oud (Arabic perfume), and jewelry.
After lunch at Al Qaria Al Najdya, a place known for its traditional Saudi cuisine, we’ll head to the airport to catch a flight to Tabuk. You’ll check in at the Swiss Inn (or a similar hotel) in Tabuk for the evening.
Today’s journey takes you into the heart of the desert with a trip to the Bajda Mountains, where we will explore narrow passages, towering red dunes, and stunning desert landscapes. Along the way, we will stop at several significant locations, including the Ship Rock, a place marked by ancient inscriptions dating back more than 1,300 years. We’ll also visit Jubb Canyon, a spectacular desert canyon where you can enjoy a walk among the sand-colored rocks, and the Great Arch, a geological marvel. The day will be filled with desert hiking, sand duning, and an exploration of the hidden inscriptions scattered throughout the landscape. After the tour, we’ll return to Tabuk and check into our hotel for some rest.
Our adventure today takes us to Wadi Dissah, a stunning 15-kilometer-long canyon in the Jebel Qaraqir massif, located about 80 kilometers south of Tabuk. Upon arrival, a traditional lunch will be served, followed by a walking tour through the valley. Wadi Dissah is known for its dramatic cliffs, lush vegetation, and flowing water that nurtures abundant palm trees and grass, making it an oasis within the desert. The towering cliffs rise to heights of over 500 meters, offering breathtaking views from various vantage points. After the hike, we will head back to Tabuk, with one last stop at a viewpoint before continuing our journey to AlUla, where we will check into a furnished apartment for the night.
Today’s highlight is Madain Saleh (also known as Hegra), one of Saudi Arabia’s most significant historical sites. As the first UNESCO World Heritage site in the country, Madain Saleh was once part of the Nabatean Kingdom. The site is famous for its 111 monumental tombs, with some reaching heights of up to 21.5 meters, carved into the sandstone mountains. The tombs are adorned with intricate facades, and many bear inscriptions from the Nabateans. We will explore this fascinating site and uncover the history of the ancient civilization that built it.
After exploring Madain Saleh, we will visit the Elephant Rock (also known as Jabal AlFil), a striking natural rock formation resembling an elephant. Over millions of years, wind and water erosion sculpted the rock into its unique shape. The surrounding landscape, with its fine-sand sea and rocky outcrops, creates a stunning setting for an unforgettable experience. As the day winds down, you’ll enjoy a relaxing sunset at a local cafe, where you can experience the magical atmosphere of this incredible natural wonder.
Today we travel to Madinah, a city of great significance in Islam. Our first stop will be the Prophet Mosque Expansion Exhibition, where you can learn about the history of this important religious site and take photos before continuing our tour. We will then visit Qiba Street, a significant pedestrian street that connects two important mosques: the Prophet Mosque and the Qiba Mosque. The Prophet Mosque is the burial site of Prophet Muhammad, while the Qiba Mosque holds the distinction of being the first mosque ever built in Islam. You will gain an understanding of the city's rich history and the pivotal role these landmarks play in Islamic culture.
Lunch will be at a local eatery along Qiba Street, where you can sample traditional Saudi food. After lunch, you will check into your hotel in Madinah for the night.
This morning, we will travel to Jeddah by train, a city known for its vibrant culture and historical significance. Upon arrival, we will begin our tour in Al Balad, the historic heart of Jeddah. Al Balad, founded in the 7th century, is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. We will explore its narrow streets, ancient buildings, and unique architecture, including houses built using sea shells and coral stone. Al Balad was once the center of trade and pilgrimage to Makkah, and we will discuss the role it played in the city's development.
We’ll also visit some of the historic mosques and stop by local food vendors known for their traditional snacks, such as Sobia (a drink made from bread) and Balilah (a dish with beans and pickles). Afterward, we will visit one of the first schools built in Saudi Arabia, as well as a local art house showcasing the region’s unique art collection. The tour will conclude with a visit to the first hotel built in Jeddah, which reflects Italian architectural influences. You will spend the night at Ibis Hotel (or a similar hotel).
On the final day of your tour, we will transfer you to the airport according to your flight schedule for your departure.
