A 9-day tour of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia covers historical cities, nature, UNESCO sites, border crossings, local culture and spectacular mountain scenery.
Itinerary
On arrival in Baku, the city tour begins by exploring the Old Town and New Town. You will visit Shirvanshah Palace, a historical heritage site, as well as Maiden Tower, a famous icon of Baku city. The tour continues to the Heydar Aliyev Center, a modern building with unique architecture, and the Hazi Aslanov Monument. Next, go up to the Mountain Park to enjoy the panoramic view of the Caspian Sea and the Flame Towers. The afternoon was filled with sightseeing at Nizami Street, Baku Boulevard, as well as a photo session at Fountain Square. Overnight in Baku.
In the morning, head to the Absheron Peninsula to see the naturally lit Yanardag (Fiery Volcano). The tour continues to the Atesgah Temple, an ancient fire worship site. Next, visit Gobustan National Park, an open-air museum famous for its prehistoric rock paintings, as well as the unique Lumpur Volcano. Overnight in Baku.
The journey continues to Shamakhi, stopping at Maraza Village and visiting the Person Baba Museum, Yeddi Gumbaz Complex, Djuma Mosque, and Shirvanshah Family Tomb. After that, travel to Sheki to visit the Sheki Khan Palace, a historic building built without using nails. Make a picture stop at the Caravanserai, a stopover for ancient traders. Overnight in Sheki.
Today involves the border crossing from Balakan (Azerbaijan) to Lagodekhi (Georgia), where guests have to carry their own luggage. After entering Georgia, the journey continues to Signaghi for a brief tour and orientation of the city known as the “City of Love”. Then depart for Tbilisi. Overnight in Tbilisi.
The Tbilisi city tour begins by visiting Metekhi Old Town, King Vakhtang Gorgasali Monument, Metekhi Temple, Abanotubani (Sulfur Bath Area), and Narikala Fortress (climb ride subject to maintenance). The tour continues to Sioni Cathedral, Bridge of Peace, Rike Park, Rezo Gabriadze Theater, Sameba Cathedral, and Rustaveli Avenue. After lunch, head to Mtskheta to visit Jvari Monastery and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, a UNESCO heritage site. Overnight in Tbilisi.
Today started with a visit to Ananuri Fort and a photo stop at Zhinvali Dam. The journey continues to Kazbegi, including a visit to the Daria Pass, an area associated with the story of the walls of Gog and Magog. Next, take a 4WD vehicle to Gergeti Trinity Church, with a spectacular backdrop of the Caucasus Mountains (subject to weather conditions). Spend the night in the surrounding area.
Border crossing arrangements from Sadakhlo (Georgia) to Bagratashen (Armenia). The tour continues to Haghpat Monastery, a UNESCO heritage site, before heading to Lake Sevan. Here, a visit to Sevanavank Monastery which is located on a hill with a beautiful view of the lake. The journey continues to Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. Overnight in Yerevan.
The tour starts at Garni Gorge and the Symphony of Stones, a unique natural rock formation, followed by a visit to the Garni Pagan Temple. Next, visit the Geghard Monastery, a medieval monastery carved in rock. After lunch, a city tour of Yerevan includes Opera House, Republic Square, Northern Avenue, a photo stop at Cascade Monument, and a visit to Mother Armenia Monument. Overnight in Yerevan.
Free time to relax or shop before transfer to airport for return flight. End of journey.
