Itinerary
Gather at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) for the flight to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. Upon arrival at Tashkent International Airport, you will be greeted by a local representative with a warm welcome before being taken to check in to your hotel. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant, while being introduced to the traditional flavors of Uzbekistan. Overnight in Tashkent to rest after a long flight.
After breakfast, depart for Bukhara by high-speed train, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Uzbek countryside. Upon arrival in Bukhara — the old city recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site — begin a tour of the Lyabi-Khauz Ensemble, a square surrounded by madrasahs and traditional restaurants. Continue to Magoki-Attori Mosque, one of the oldest mosques in Central Asia, as well as Madrasah Abdulazizkhan and Ulugbek, which showcase the beauty of classical Islamic architecture. The tour continues to the Poi-Kalyon Complex, a famous landmark that houses the towering Kalyon tower. After dinner at a local restaurant, check into the hotel and spend the night in Bukhara.
Breakfast at the hotel, then visit the Ark Fortress, an ancient fortress where the Emir of Bukhara lived, followed by the beautiful Bolo Khovuz Mosque with its carved wooden pillars. Next depart for Samarkand, with a stop at the Gijduvan Ceramic Masterclass House to see a demonstration of traditional pottery making passed down through the generations. Enjoy lunch there before continuing. On the way to Samarkand, stop by to visit Mamakam al-Bukhari, the great hadith figure of Islam (external tour). Arrival in Samarkand, hotel check-in, dinner and overnight.
Start the day with breakfast at the hotel before exploring the beauty of Samarkand, the legendary city on the Silk Road. Visit the Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum, the burial place of the Eastern Amir (Tamerlane) and his descendants, famous for its blue domes and glittering tile art. Continue to Registan Square, a symbol of Uzbekistan's pride, decorated with three large madrasas — Ulugh Beg, Sher-Dor and Tilya-Kori. After lunch, visit Khazrati Khizr Mosque and Shakhi Zinda Necropolis, a royal tomb complex with amazing architecture. Before leaving for Tashkent, enjoy shopping at the lively Siyob Bazaar. Take the Afrosiyob high-speed train to Tashkent, dinner and hotel check-in. Overnight in Tashkent.
After breakfast, head to the Chimgan Mountains (approximately 100km from the city). This trip offers beautiful panoramas of valleys, traditional villages, and clear rivers. Upon arrival, you will ride an open cable car for a distance of 3km from Beldersay Gorge to Kumbel Peak, enjoying the fresh air and the amazing view of the mountain area. Take some time to relax and take some memorable photos before returning to Tashkent. Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight at the hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel, then take an express train to Kokand, a historic city in the Fergana Valley. Arrive and visit Khudayar Khan Palace, a magnificent palace of the Kokand Dynasty rich in Islamic architecture. Continue to Rishtan, famous worldwide for its unique turquoise blue pottery. Witness the pottery making process using old techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation. Next to Margilan, the center of Uzbekistan's silk industry. Visit the Margilan Silk Factory, witness how silk cloth is traditionally produced, and enjoy free time at the local bazaar. Dinner and overnight at Margilan.
Breakfast at the hotel and a visit to the Babur Museum, which commemorates the founder of the Mughal Empire. Enjoy lunch at Chontak Teahouse before leaving for the Dustlik border, to enter Kyrgyzstan. Arrive in Osh and continue by flight to Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel, have dinner at a local restaurant and overnight in Bishkek.
Breakfast at the hotel before starting the city tour. Visit Philharmonic Hall and Manas Monument, a symbol of Kyrgyz pride. Continue to Ala-Too Square, Independence Monument, and Old Square which highlight Soviet-era architecture. Then, free time for shopping at TSUM Department Store, the largest shopping mall in Bishkek. Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight in Bishkek.
After breakfast, move to Almaty, a modern city in Kazakhstan surrounded by mountains. Upon arrival, a visit to Panfilov Park, built to commemorate the 28 heroes who died defending the motherland. Continue to Zenkov Cathedral, a historic church built entirely of wood without a single nail. The tour continues to the Memorial Complex dedicated to the victims of the Second World War. End the day with shopping at the famous Green Bazaar. Dinner at a restaurant and overnight in Almaty.
Breakfast and depart for the airport for the flight back to Tashkent. Upon arrival, check into the hotel before embarking on a tour of Friendship Square, Independence Square, and Amir Timur Square — the capital's main focal points. Then, experience the unique experience of riding the Tashkent Metro, one of the most beautiful subway systems in the world with mosaics and crystal lights. Dinner and overnight in Tashkent.
Breakfast and check out from the hotel. The tour continues to the Victims of Political Oppression Museum, before visiting the Minor Mosque, as well as the Khasti Imam Complex, which houses the Barak Khan Madrasah and the Othmani Al-Quran Museum, where the oldest Al-Quran manuscript from the 7th century is still preserved. Shop at Chorsu Bazaar for local souvenirs before enjoying a farewell dinner. Then, leave for the airport for the return flight to Kuala Lumpur.
Arrive at KLIA safely. Hopefully this trip will leave you with wonderful memories of the unique culture and history of Central Asia — from the majesty of Samarkand to the charm of the Alatau mountains in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
