This package highlights Miri's uniqueness through a combination of oil history at Bukit Kanada, cultural heritage at Tong Tua Pek Kong, natural beauty at Piasau Conservation Center, and a shopping experience at Sarawak Layer Cake

Itinerary

Day 1

09:00 am / 1:00 pm
Your exciting day tour begins with a convenient pickup from Miri Airport. A friendly tour guide will greet you and take you to your first destination of the day.

The tour begins with a visit to Canada Hill (also known as Power Hill), which offers the best panoramic views of the city and coastline. This hill is home to the Petroleum Museum, where you can explore various exhibits showcasing the history and development of the oil and gas industry in Malaysia. The main attraction of this museum is Oil Well No. 1 which is historic, known as the Grand Old Lady, the place where Shell Sarawak discovered oil in the early 20th century. The Grand Old Lady has produced more than 650,000 barrels of oil in a period of 60 years, from 1910 to 1972, and is considered the birthplace of the oil industry in Miri.

Next, you will be taken to visit Tokong Tua Pek Kong, which is the oldest temple in Miri. This 110-year-old temple is one of the buildings that survived the Japanese bombing during the Second World War. It is a historical testament to Miri's transformation from a small fishing village to the rapidly developing city it is today.

After that, you have the opportunity to explore the local markets and shops around the city. Here, you can buy traditional herbs, handicrafts, and Kek Lapis Sarawak, a type of traditional cake known for its attractive colors and delicious layers. It is also a good opportunity to get a unique souvenir.

(Optional Activity) If you are interested, you can visit the Piasau Nature Conservation Center which is located along the Miri coastline. This area is home to the Hornbill Conservation Center, which was established to protect the iconic hornbill species of Borneo. Formerly a recreation area for Shell oil company employees in the 1920s, this area has now been transformed into a protected area of diverse flora and fauna, including mangrove swamp forests, tidal flats, and river estuaries.

12:00pm / 4:00pm
After the tour, you will be sent to the hotel for check-in. Your day tour ends here, allowing you to enjoy the rest of the time with free activities.
